Final event and presentation of the results of the Interreg RECON project
Overview

The Final Event of the RECON project organized by the Apulia Film Commission Foundation on 15 June 2023 at the Apulia Film House in Bari concluded with great success.

After the introductory greeting by Cristina Piscitelli, Head of the Planning and Project Management Office of the Apulia Film Commission, Mauro Paolo Bruno, Head of the Development, Innovation and Networks Section of the Puglia Region took the floor, underlining the importance of this project on the national and European scene. "There have been numerous strategies launched, both at national and European level, to try to enhance and promote, in the best possible way, the cultural and cinematographic heritage, taking into account the discourse of digitization" - said Bruno - "Even Italy has moved, in this respect, with the drafting of the National Plan for the digitization of cultural heritage (NPD), which constitutes the strategic vision with which the Ministry of Culture intends to promote and organize the digital transformation process in the five-year period 2022-2026 and which has provided for an important financial allocation of around 200 million euros for the digitization of cultural heritage. Of these, 5 million destined for the Puglia region. I am convinced that all the work carried out by the RECON project moves in parallel with the National Digitization Plan, going to define all the techniques of metadata and preservation of the cinematographic and cultural heritage".

The event was opportunity to present the activities and the satisfactory results achieved by the RECON project up to now. Among these, the "CREATURE" exhibition created thanks to the digitization of 36 fine art prints of film posters from the fund of the Mediateca Regionale Pugliese, relating to iconic films that have marked the history of genre cinema. These posters, dating back to the period from the 1940s to the 1970s, have made it possible to recreate an exhibition dedicated to 36 creatures that have populated and fueled the collective imagination, designed by the greatest masters of the Painted Cinema such as Enzo Nistri, Nano, Ciriello, Renato Casaro, etc.

Another result presented during the event concerned the Feasibility Study for the creation of the Cineteca Regionale Pugliese, with the aim of cataloguing, preserving and analyzing the local film heritage.

The event, in addition to having explored and addressed some of the most important and interesting issues related to the cinematographic and audiovisual sector, has encouraged the development of action synergies between the institutions and stakeholders operating in the sector.
